Véronique Beauchemin (CSSH)

Véronique Beauchemin has been an ESL teacher at the elementary level, at the Centre de Services Scolaire Harricana (CSSH) for 10 years. Before that, she worked at the secondary level for a few years. She also has experience in subteaching, mostly in English. Véronique graduated from UQAT's BEALS program in 2010. She also completed the "Microprogramme de 1er cycle en prévention de la violence à l'école" in 2015. Véronique is a cooperative teacher, welcoming students from UQAT in her classroom since 2020. As a part of the English team, Véronique is focussing a lot on organization. It is Véronique's first experience as a SPEAQ presenter.

Manon Belzile (CSSH)

Manon Belzile is a retired school principal from Centre de Services Scolaire Harricana (CSSH). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Éducation primaire préscolaire from the University of Sherbrooke (1989), a Specialized Graduate Diploma in School Administration from UQAT (2004), and a Master's degree in Education (School Administration) from UQAT (2011). During her 22-year career at Centre de Services Scolaire Harricana, she led both primary and secondary schools, honing her leadership skills and implementing various projects of all sizes. She focused on fostering a culture of collaboration within her teams and establishing communities of practice to meet the needs of her students. In her last role as a “direction conseil”, she supported school administrators and worked on educational projects across all schools in her service center. She also had the privilege of guiding the elementary ESL specialist team in developing a collaborative culture and a successful, harmonized program for all their students.

Sophie Bordeleau

Hello, my name is Sophie Bordeleau, and I am an English teacher dedicated to creating dynamic and immersive learning experiences for students. After my experience with high school students, I became passionate about finding innovative ways to prepare them for their high school journey, particularly in sparking their interest in English language learning and immersing them in a fun English-only classroom environment. I am excited to share my experience and insights with you.

I am a young teacher who is passionate about teaching. Since the moment I could, I was very involved with SPEAQ and SPEAQ on Campus because I believe in professional development that addresses our needs. I believe that discussing together as English teachers is the best way to improve our conditions and help each other.

Josée-Anne Cossette (CSSH)

Josée-Anne Cossette has been an ESL teacher and responsible for English at the elementary level at Centre de Services Scolaire Harricana (CSSH) for more than 10 years. Before that, she worked at the secondary level for two years. Josée-Anne graduated from UQAT's BEALS program in 2010. She also completed the "Microprogramme de 1er cycle en prévention de la violence à l'école primaire" in 2020. Josée-Anne was a cooperative teacher from 2015 to 2021. She is also part of the “Programme d’insertion professionnelle du CSSH” as a mentor since August 2023. As a part of the English team, Josee-Anne is focussing on pedagogical intentions and the proper application of the ESL programs and the Progression of Learning. It is Josée-Anne's first experience as a SPEAQ presenter.

Annie-Pierre Fauteux (CSSH)

Annie-Pierre Fauteux has been an ESL teacher at the elementary level, at Centre de Service Harricana (CSSH) for 10 years. Before that, she taught part-time and was a substitute teacher at CSSH for 6 years, both at the elementary and at the secondary levels. Annie-Pierre graduated from UQAT’s BEALS program in 2013. Before that, she obtained her master’s degree in Études cinématographiques at Université de Montréal in 2008 and a Bachelor's in Films Studies at Concordia University in 2005. Moreover, Annie-Pierre was part of the UQAT’s BEALS Revision Committee in 2018. Since 2023, she has been a cooperative teacher, welcoming students from UQAT in her classroom. As a part of the English team, Annie-Pierre brings LES ideas and works on graphic designs. It is Annie-Pierre’s first experience as a SPEAQ presenter.

Pooneh Golestani

Pooneh Golestani is a professor in the TESL program at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT). She is also implicated in teacher training programs in First Nations and Inuit contexts. Her research focuses on the optimization of formative assessment strategies in Initial Teacher Education Programs for TESL students in Québec.

Nadia Laurendeau

Nadia Laurendeau was an elementary ESL teacher and a part-time pedagogical consultant for many years at the Marie-Victorin SSC. Her experience in integrating technologies in class and supporting colleagues has brought her to join the Service national du RÉCIT, domaine des langues. She was a member of the SPEAQ board of directors for 6 years as the Technologies Director. She is also the recipient of the SPEAQ Keith Boeckner Award in 2020 and the chairperson for SPEAQ IT!.

Audrey-Mia Lemire

I’m Audrey-Mia Lemire, I have a passion for second language education. I taught ESL for 17 years in high school from secondary 1 to 5 as well as specialized education. I have been an ESL pedagogical consultant at CSSRN for 4 years and involved in the BEALS as a supervisor and lecturer. I am looking forward to meeting you to discuss different ways to engage your students in the ESL class.

Monique Mainella

Monique Mainella has been and ESL and EESL teacher for 26 years. She has taught all levels. She also teaches pedagogy courses at UQAM, McGill, the University of Sherbrooke and Concordia. She has been on the SPEAQ Board of Directors since 1998. Monique currently teaches at Collegial International Sainte Anne in Lachine.

Maude Ouellet

Maude Ouellet graduated from the BEALS program in 2023. She also completed a primary and kindergarten education certificate. Last year, she was one of the SPEAQ award recipients for academic excellence and involvement in the BEALS program. This year, she teaches Grade 1 at an English school, but most of her students are English language learners (ELL). She is currently doing her Master of Education at USherbrooke in Adaptation Scolaire et Sociale.

Ann-Frédérik Turcotte

Ann-Frédérik Turcotte graduated from the BEALS program at UQAT in 2019. She teaches at Noranda School in a split-cycle grade, and specializes in differentiation. She also teaches FSL with LEARN Quebec and is pursuing a Master’s degree in mental health intervention at TELUQ.
